  • Client-to-server integration with SharePoint : This type requires you to install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Component in the sandboxed environment of SharePoint to enclose the SharePoint document management functionality within CRM. The client-to server integration is a platform that supports both online and on-premises versions of CRM and SharePoint.
  • Server-to-server integration with SharePoint (with CRM Online only) : This type does not require you to install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Component in the sandboxed environment of SharePoint or in other additional software to possess the SharePoint document management functionality within CRM. Once you enable server-based SharePoint integration for your organization, revert to the client-based authentication system is not possible. The server-based integration supports the SharePoint Online and SharePoint on-premises merely for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online following the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2015 Update.
